Kippley and Martin Go Triple Gold at SS Round 8

August 16, 2026

By Rolfe Otterness

Brekken Kippley and Jeremy Martin cleaned up in their classes as the only two riders to garner three top trophies.  Entries for the day were totaled at 705 so no small task to win three overalls.   Kippley is early in his career and motored off with wins in Mini-E (7-8), 50cc Premix 7-8 and 50cc Open 4-8.   The more elderly gentlemen, Mr. Martin, and enjoying his retirement years, came out to train for an upcoming vintage race in the UK and ran in 30+A, 250A and Open A with great success.   The Pro track featured some changes to the layout at the base of Mount Martin with some turns and features changed along with major landscaping to the hill above for better spectator access in the future.

Jerran Shearer roosted a mightly holeshot as he led the pack of 65cc 7-11 competitors through turn one, moto one.  He was hanging in there for a while but feeling pressure from Rhett Appel, Ryder Kruger and Anderson Durant.    Ryder Kruger was tugging on the throttle with gusto and soon wrested the lead away and started to build up a cushion over Appel and now third-place-rider Shearer with the moto end approaching.   Kruger took the flag a couple seconds ahead of Appel with Shearer a few bike lengths back.  Jantz Barrick and Durant rounded out the top five.

Appel jumped out to the lead as the gate dropped for the next moto with Kruger and Barrick close in tow.  Barrick and Kruger began a battle while Appel  fell back in the pack after first lap troubles.  Shaw Vandenburg and Emmett Frost mixed it up in their own battle over third.  The duo out front continued to battle with Kruger stealing the lead from Barrick and holding it to the flag with Barrick hanging close until crashing in the last turn before the flag.   He recovered quickly enough to retaing second over Frost who had delegated Vandenberg to fourth on the last lap.  Shearer was close for fifth.

Dalton Hein shot off the line when the 25+B class was released from the captivity of the starting gate.   That was all he needed to take off for the win as he gapped the field.   Trevor Bonnicksen latched onto second but was mercilessly attacked by Jaydon Nyeggen for lap after lap.   Hein took a nice win with nearly ten seconds back to Nyeggen who made a pass attempt stick on the white flag lap.   Bonnicksen was right on him for third while Anthony Osman crossed the line a few seconds back for fourth over Jacob Schiller.     The next moto saw more action and lead changes but the results came down to the same finishing positions for all the same riders in a nicely consistent scoring setup.

Karson Schmidt was the top dog in the Schoolboy 2 class, winning both motos.   Cooper Couette ran strong for a 2-2 score and put a good amount of effort into pressuring Schmidt on the last lap of moto two in an attempt to steal away the overall.   But Schmidt was able to fend off the attack and pulled back a bit of a gap as they ran through the last section of the track.   Myles Mahowald and Luke Carlson swept the next two spots with 4-3 and 3-4 finishes respectively while Jackson Althoff surged to 5-5 finishes.
