Logan Kittock hammered the AA class as Spring Creek Park hosted District 23 Hare Scrambles on a warm May day. The AA riders hit the track shortly after 1:30 after the temperature was closing on the mid 80’s. Riders in classes released earlier in the day had found the warm temperatures to be a challenge and for the AA, A and B riders in the 2 hour event good physical condition was going to be critical. Jack Maki, Logan Cipala and Kittock positioned themselves near the front of the pack as they accelerated through turn one of the moto track. The riders proceeded for a distance on the track before cutting off to the tighter surroundings of the wooded hillsides where the lap times were expected to be between 25 to 30 minutes or more. Kittock surged into the lead early on with Cipala latching onto his trail and Luke Wilder just a bit further behind. At the conclusion of the first lap Kittock led by only about 10 seconds and Wilder was another 15 seconds or so back of Cipala through the scoring chute. Kittock poured it on over the next few laps and built up a cushion while Cipala found Wilder closing in on the late stages of the race and right on his rear fender as they hit the scoring chute at the end of lap four. The fifth and final lap had the victorious Kittock cruising across the finish line with a little over a 2 minute lead on Wilder, who overtook Cipala on that lap. Cipala dropped a bit off Wilder’s pace on the last lap but finished less than a minute back. Boede Wallner stole fourth-place from Jack Maki on the last lap.
Austin Holasek topped the A class riders with a very respectable time that placed him in sixth overall against the AA riders. Second A class rider through the chute was Thaden Zengler who topped the A 200 class and was followed closely by the winner of the A Open class, Curt Plzak.
Tatum Swygman snared the overall in the B 200 and overall B class rider on his GasGas 85. Pretty respectable ride! Wilson Rosenberg aced the B 250 class while Kyler Kimmick scooped up the first place trophy for B Open.
